Jakarta, 20/8 (ANTARA) – Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali represented Indonesia at the 20th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (ANCM) 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday, to bolster maritime security and strengthen defense cooperation across Southeast Asia.
“Through active participation in the 20th ANCM 2026, the Indonesian Navy continues to contribute to strengthening an inclusive regional maritime security architecture and realizing a secure, stable, and peaceful Southeast Asia region,” Ali said in a statement.
The summit, held from August 18 to 21, 2026, gathered naval leaders from across the bloc under the theme “One ASEAN, One Maritime Vision, Naval Cooperation for Maritime Security, Prosperity and Sustainability in ASEAN”.
Discussions focused on navigating evolving strategic challenges and expanding collaborative frameworks to safeguard regional waters.
Ali’s participation forms part of the Indonesian Navy’s broader efforts to advance naval diplomacy and enhance communication channels with ASEAN partner nations.
On the sidelines of the event, the Navy Chief held several bilateral meetings with regional naval commanders to address targeted defense initiatives and mutual security concerns.
The annual gathering remains the premier platform for ASEAN naval forces to align security strategies, foster operational trust, and maintain stability across Southeast Asia’s critical maritime routes. (Edo)
