Jakarta, indomaritim.com – The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) and the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) have conducted joint underwater operations exercises aimed at sharpening personnel diving skills and strengthening bilateral military ties.
The Joint Dive Exercise (DIVEX) 2026 took place from August 25 to 30 at Jinhae Naval Base and on Jeju Island, South Korea, according to an official TNI AL press release issued in Jakarta on Monday.
Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, First Admiral Tunggul, stated that the joint drills were specifically designed to enhance the tactical proficiency of naval divers in carrying out specialized underwater missions.
“The exercises are designed to improve the knowledge, skills, and professionalism of Indonesian Navy and ROKN personnel in conducting underwater diving and rescue operations during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR),” Tunggul said as cited from Antara News Agency.
In addition to enhancing operational capabilities, Tunggul noted that the joint exercise provided a strategic platform to deepen defense cooperation and mutual trust between Indonesia and South Korea.
He confirmed that all training modules were carried out smoothly and safely, with strict adherence to established operational safety protocols.
Tunggul expressed hope that the outcome of the joint drills would further enhance the expertise of Indonesian Navy divers while solidifying the long-standing military partnership between the two countries. (Edo)
