Jakarta, indomaritim.com – The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism is set to launch the 2026 Tourism Safety Program across the country to strengthen the safety standards of tourist destinations.
“Our challenge is no longer just about offering beautiful destinations, but ensuring that tourists have a safe, comfortable, and high-quality experience,” the ministry’s Deputy for Resources and Institutional Affairs, Martini Mohamad Paham, said in a statement confirmed on Saturday.
According to her, the tourism sector is undergoing a paradigm shift, as travelers now seek more than just the beauty of destinations but also authentic, safe, and memorable experiences.
In this regard, the Ministry of Tourism prepared the Tourism Safety Program as an initiative to enhance the knowledge and skills of tourism human resources, particularly in risk mitigation and emergency response.
According to Antara, This strategic move is also intended to ensure standardized safety procedures for tourists while boosting Indonesia’s tourism competitiveness on the global stage.
Paham emphasized that the program’s success requires cross-sector synergy and collaboration, particularly with provincial tourism offices as the primary drivers in regions.
“We expect all heads of tourism offices to play an active role as initiators in their respective regions. Tourism safety is not the responsibility of a single party, but a collective one,” she remarked.
The training program also serves as a platform for developing human resources who understand the principles of occupational health and safety, as well as environmental sustainability.
This is expected to foster professionalism in tourism services while bolstering Indonesia’s positive image as a safe, high-quality destination.
Furthermore, the ministry is also leading the program’s technical and administrative implementation to ensure that every activity provides tangible benefits for destination development.
Meanwhile, the ministry’s Assistant Deputy for Community Capacity Building, Ika Kusuma Permana Sari, highlighted that regional preparedness is key to successfully executing the program.
The Ministry of Tourism is optimistic that by strengthening human resource capacity and fostering solid collaboration, the 2026 Tourism Safety Program can serve as a vital foundation for creating a competitive and sustainable Indonesian tourism industry that provides a sense of security for tourists.
