RI’s Support for Palestinian Independence Non-negotiable

Jakarta, indomaritim.com – President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed that Indonesia’s support for Palestinian statehood remains an absolute foreign policy priority that cannot be compromised under any circumstances.

“We are good with all our strengths, but what we cannot negotiate is supporting the Palestinian independence struggle,” President Prabowo stated during his address at the 28th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB) in Jakarta, Thursday (July 23).

Despite this firm stance, Prabowo underscored that Indonesia will maintain its long-standing independent and active foreign policy.

As a non-aligned nation, Indonesia seeks to build constructive, peaceful relations with all global powers without making enemies or intervening in the domestic affairs of sovereign states.

“We are grateful that we are non-aligned, we have no enemies, we respect all countries, we respect all powers. We want to be independent and active,” he remarked as quoted by Antara News Agency.

Prabowo explained that his administration’s foreign policy is anchored in the principle of being a “good neighbor,” aimed at building friendly relationships and international cooperation while preserving Indonesia’s freedom of choice.

While stressing that Indonesia has no interest in meddling in foreign affairs, the President made clear that the country remains fully prepared to safeguard its own security and sovereignty if challenged.

He pointed to Indonesia’s traditional “all-people defense system”—a defense concept anchored in public participation and national patriotism—as the bedrock of its national security.

“We do not want to interfere with others. But all Indonesians will defend their sovereignty, independence and future,” Prabowo concluded. (RR)
