Jakarta, indomaritim.com – President Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia and France share similar views on Middle East stability, backing a two-state solution as essential for Palestinian independence and regional peace.

Speaking after bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Thursday, Prabowo said stability in the Middle East remains crucial because of its impact on global energy supplies.

“Peace in the Middle East is in our shared interest. France has become one of the pioneers encouraging support for the two-state solution and Palestinian independence,” Prabowo said as qouted from Antara News Agency.

“Indonesia remains of the view that there can be no peace in the Middle East without the two-state solution and justice for the Palestinian people,” he added.

Prabowo said Indonesia and France could play constructive roles amid growing global uncertainty and geopolitical tensions.

He reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to supporting initiatives and diplomatic efforts aimed at maintaining global peace.

The president said conflict and war increasingly offer no benefits in a world that has become more interconnected through advances in science and technology.

“We are pleased that we now have a comprehensive strategic partnership and expect more concrete, balanced and impactful cooperation ahead,” Prabowo said.

The bilateral meeting also covered cooperation in defense, clean energy, education, research and progress toward the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA).
