Denpasar, indomaritim.com – Several coastal areas in Bali are expected to experience coastal flooding through June 5, triggered by the full moon, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Center (BBMKG) Region III.
“The cause is the Full Moon phenomenon on May 31,” said BBMKG Region III Head Cahyo Nugroho in Denpasar on Sunday.
He explained that the phenomenon has the potential to increase maximum sea levels.
Based on water level monitoring data and tidal forecasts, coastal flooding may occur along the southern coast of Jembrana and the southern coast of Tabanan.
It may also occur along the coasts of Badung Regency, Denpasar City, Gianyar Regency, and the southern coast of Klungkung Regency.
Cahyo noted that the timing of potential coastal flooding may vary by day and hour across different locations.
Activities that may be affected include loading and unloading operations at ports, activities in coastal settlements, as well as salt pond and inland fisheries activities.
