Jakarta, indomaritim.com – The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have deployed 585 personnel to secure the state visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender in Jakarta on Monday.

Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesperson Chief Commissioner Budi Hermanto said the comprehensive security operation reflects the Indonesian National Police’s (Polri) commitment to ensuring the safety of state guests and demonstrating the highest level of respect for visiting dignitaries.

“We have ensured that all personnel are stationed along the travel routes and at the event venues so that the entire diplomatic agenda can proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly,” he said in Jakarta on Monday as quoted from Antara News Agency.

The security operation, which began at 8 a.m. local time, involves personnel from multiple police units.

A total of 490 officers from the traffic, public order, intelligence, and security directorates have been deployed, supported by 95 personnel from local police precincts.

Key routes receiving priority security coverage include Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, MT Haryono, Gatot Subroto, Asia Afrika, Jenderal Sudirman, M.H. Thamrin, Medan Merdeka Barat, Garnisun Dalam, Prof. Dr. Satrio, Medan Merdeka Utara, and Perwira roads.

Hermanto emphasized that any road closures along the presidential motorcade route will be implemented only when necessary to prevent severe congestion and minimize disruptions to public mobility.

Once the motorcade has passed, officers will promptly reopen the roads to facilitate the movement of other motorists, he added.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police are committed to carrying out professional, adaptive, and people-oriented VIP security operations in close coordination with the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

President Steinmeier is scheduled to undertake a state visit to Indonesia on June 15, with a primary focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation, according to German Ambassador to Indonesia Ralf Beste.

Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta on June 12, the ambassador said Germany remains committed to being a long-term partner of Indonesia in addressing future challenges together. (Edo)
